On this episode of The Knocking Rod podcast, we add video for the first time! But more importantly, this is a full-on group goof-around session with a regular who’s who of Fanwood, New Jersey. First and foremost, our guest of honor - Katie Z! From the house on the corner of the one and only Herbert Avenue, Katie, her family, and our family go ALL the way back. She’s joined by two more Stenders - Caroline (my favorite sister) and Richard, the father unit!
This conversation came about after I got wind of Katie having taken her driver’s test in one of our all-time weird cars, a first-gen Mazda MPV! We dive into this subject and have a LOT of laughs. Other notable subjects include Richard swearing like a sailor (don’t worry - I made is not NSFW), an old Buick station wagon crashing into the neighbor’s car due to a failed e-brake, an old Buick Regal with failing brakes on the road, and lots of other riotous car stories that are not all Buick related.
I originally aimed at making these podcasts brief, but the stories are just too much fun to cut short and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying these trips down automotive memory lanes. Which is to say, this episode is on the longer side!
